Jari is driven by his passion for “Bildung” (the German equivalent of education or 教育) and developing people as well as organizations. He has spent most of his professional life building bridges between East and West as well as between academia and industry.  Further, he is an expert on organisational development, strategy and transformation.

Jari received his PhD from the University of Bonn for his work on strategic thinking in China (2009). From 2009 to 2014 he served as the German Director of the Sino-German School for Postgraduate Studies at Tongji-University (CDHK-同济大学中德学院) as well as of the Sino-German University (CDH-同济大学中德学部). In 2012 Jari was elected as board member of the German Schools in Shanghai (DSS-上海德国学校) and served as deputy chairman of the board until 2019.

In 2014 Jari co-founded hivetime, a Shanghai based consultancy focussing on strategy, organisational development and leadership. As managing partner and consultant at hivetime Jari was in charge of strategy implementation-, organizational development- and change-projects for MNCs as well as local companies and multilateral organizations (clients include AIIB 亚投行, Porsche, Maserati, Daimler, NIO蔚来汽车, Siemens, ZF, etc.).

Since 2012 Jari has been teaching as a Visiting Professor in some of the most renowned MBA & EMBA programs (including St. Gallen Business School, ESADE, HEC, NYU, CEIBS, Berlin School of Creative Leadership and Shanghai Jiaotong University,…).

Jari has always strived to be an active and responsible member of his communities and has served in a number of honorary offices (e.g. German Schools Shanghai, coach and mentor for start-ups during his time as member of the Entrepreneurs Organization (EO) Shanghai and coach of a girls football team in Bonn).
