Ms. XIE Jing, Vice Governor of the People’s Government of Hainan Province, visited Hainan Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences (BiUH) for an on-site inspection on Thursday.
The visit covered key areas including campus construction (Phase II planning), laboratory development, student canteen facilities, and student accommodation. A dedicated symposium was subsequently convened to address the major challenges and priorities facing the university’s development. Mr. XING Kongzheng, Deputy Director of the Hainan Provincial Department of Education, and Ms. WANG Lingrong, Deputy Mayor of the Danzhou Municipal People’s Government, accompanied the delegation, along with officials from the International Cooperation and Exchange Division of the Provincial Department of Education and the Danzhou Municipal Education Bureau. President of BiUH Prof. Dr. Ingeborg Schramm-Wölk, Vice President Mr. ZENG Weilu, and Vice President Ms. Judith Peltz, participated in both the inspection and the symposium.

Ms. XIE Jing opened by conveying the warm regards and greetings of Mr. FENG Fei, Secretary of the Hainan Provincial Party Committee, and Mr. LIU Xiaoming, Governor of Hainan Province, to Prof. Dr. Schramm-Wölk and all faculty and staff. During the inspection, Ms. XIE Jing expressed strong affirmation of the university’s achievements since receiving approval to enroll students in 2023, and conveyed her expectations for BiUH to continue developing into a model showcase for educational openness in the Hainan Free Trade Port, and a benchmark for friendly Sino-German educational and cultural exchange and cooperation. At the symposium, Ms. XIE Jing responded to the university’s key concerns one by one, with particular emphasis on advancing Phase II campus construction, implementing the application for tax-exemption qualifications, and promoting school-enterprise cooperation and the commercialisation of scientific and technological achievements, for each of which she put forward specific requirements and guidance.

This inspection visit has made tangible progress in resolving the difficulties encountered in the university’s development, and has injected strong momentum for BiUH to launch Phase II construction at the earliest opportunity and advance high-quality development. The university will conscientiously implement the decisions and plans of the Hainan Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government, steadily advance educational, scientific, technological, and cultural exchanges between BiUH and Hochschule Bielefeld – University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSBI), continue to improve the quality of talent cultivation, and contribute more high-calibre technical professionals to better serve the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port.
