On the afternoon of September 9, 2023, Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences, Hainan (BiUH) held a grand opening ceremony for its first ever freshmen students in a Lecture room of Lingshui Li’an International Education Innovation Experimental Zone.
The Presidents of Hainan Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences , Juergen Kretschmann (Professor Ke Yugen) , Professor Guan Naijia, Executive President of this university and representatives of all teachers, students, and some parents attended the opening ceremony. Cao Xiankun, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Hainan Provincial Department of Education, Yuan Songyang, Deputy Director of the Lingshui Li’an International Education Innovation Pilot Zone Management Bureau, as well as representatives and guests from brotherly universities such as the Alberta International School of Recreation, Sport and Tourism of Beijing Sport University, Coventry College, Communication University of China, and Hainan International College of Minzu University of China also attended the opening ceremony.
As the ceremony began, President Guan Naijia and President Ke Yugen successively took the stage to deliver speeches. President Guan reviewed the history of the university since its establishment and set some enthusiastic expectations for the students for their upcoming college years. She urged them to work hard as the main goal of their university life and hoped that they could learn more consciously and think creatively.
President Ke Yugen stated in his speech that BiUH should be built on the basis of the four core values of “Humanity”, “Cooperation”, “Responsibility”, and “Attitude”, and he looked forward to working together with all teachers and students to build Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences, Hainan into a cradle for cultivating international talents.
Afterwards, Chen Rui from Computer Class 1 and Xue Yichun from Electronic Information Class 1 took the stage as student representatives to give speeches. The two students expressed that they were lucky to be among the first students of BiUH and felt proud to shoulder the responsibility of writing BiUH’s history.
Finally, Secretary Cao Xiankun took the stage to deliver a speech on the successful opening of Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences, Hainan, expressing a warm welcome to the new students of grade 2023, and offering deep blessings and earnest expectations for the successful operation of Hainan Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences.
In addition, all the faculty and staff of Hainan Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences, also made a collective appearance at the ceremony to introduce themselves to new students.
President Ke Yugen and President Guan Naijia presented welcome gifts to the students one by one, and the students wrote beautiful wishes on the drifting bottle, waiting for four years to be revealed.
Professor Dr. Schramm-Wölk, President of the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences, Germany, also welcomed students and parents who had come from afar through a video and sent blessings to all teachers and students.
