In the recently concluded Hainan Provincial Competition of the 12th China College Students’ Digital Media Technology Works and Creativity Competition, two teams from our university won the first and second prizes respectively.
The work that won the first prize in this competition was “Huangdi Mausoleum: The Spiritual Symbol of Chinese Civilization“, creatively produced by Haoxuan Liang, Yichun Xue, Zhenning Yu, Sihan Liu and Changpeng Wang. According to the project leader, Haoxuan Liang, this project is an immersive VR game. “In the game, you will travel through time and space to experience the life of Huangdi, explore the natural landscape of ancient times, and witness the sights of the Xuanyuan tribe. At the same time, you can also visit the magnificent Xuanyuan Hall through the cloud experience, appreciate the solemnity and mystery of the ancient architecture, stroll through the virtual historical scenes, and immerse yourself in that grand era.” Haoxuan Liang said.
The creativity of the work originated from admiration and curiosity for the ancient history of China. “As the cultural ancestor of the Chinese nation, Huangdi’s legendary stories and great achievements have continuously inspired future generations. Through VR technology, players can more intuitively feel the charm of the Huangdi era and deepen their understanding and appreciation of traditional culture.” Yichun Xue introduced, “With the continuous development of virtual reality technology, we are able to present ancient historical scenes in a brand-new way, so that players can not only get entertainment experience in the game, but also gain a wealth of historical knowledge.”
The project team realized VR key mapping through VR streaming and carried out scene restoration and construction, and at the same time, supplemented it with the output of historical allusions and scene texts, frame rate optimization, screen adjustment and integration, etc., which ultimately enabled the work to be presented perfectly.
The work “Dongpo Poetry and Cuisine“, which won the second prize in this competition, is a WeChat mini program jointly created by Anna Fu, Simin Peng and Guiqi Xiao.
This mini program not only features cultural content such as Su Shi’s poems and delicacies but also sets up rich interactive sessions, allowing users to actively participate in them, increasing engagement and enjoyment. “For example, users can virtually and individually ‘cook’ Su Shi’s classic dishes, such as Dongpo Pork and Dongpo Tofu. During this process, the mini program will guide users to select ingredients, seasonings, and heat, as if they were in Su Shi’s kitchen, experiencing the food culture of the ancients. In addition, the poetry fill-in-the-blank game allows users to learn Su Shi’s classic poetry works in an entertaining way through an interesting and interactive form. Users can complete the challenge of filling in the blanks of the verses in different poetic contexts and receive encouragement or rewards upon success. This not only boosts the learning interest, but also strengthens memory and cultural experience.” Simin Peng introduced.
As for the source of the inspiration for this work, Guiqi Xiao said that in modern society, many people are easily troubled by the setbacks of reality when they are faced with their unrecognized talent and disappointment. Throughout his life, Su Shi was repeatedly exiled throughout his life, but he always faced life with an optimistic and open-minded attitude in adversity. “The sense of humor, vitality and love for nature revealed in his poems highlight his calmness and inner strength when facing difficulties. This spiritual strength is extremely contagious and motivating for people in today’s society, especially those who are struggling, experiencing difficulties, or feeling lost. ”
