Mr. LIU Xiaoming, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee and Governor of Hainan Province, met in Haikou with a delegation led by Prof. Dr. Ingeborg Schramm-Wölk, President of Hochschule Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSBI) and President of Hainan Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences (BiUH).
Mr. LIU Xiaoming, on behalf of the Hainan provincial government, expressed gratitude to all for their long-standing attention and support for Hainan, and introduced the progress of the Hainan Free Trade Port’s development. He stated that the Hainan Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences is the first independent educational project in China operated by a foreign public university and serves as a vivid practice and landmark project for building Hainan’s International Education Innovation Island. He expressed the hope that the university would align with the key industrial development directions focused on by the Hainan Free Trade Port to cultivate more high-level applied talents who are grounded in practice and future-oriented. He also hoped that both sides would jointly build high-level scientific research and innovation platforms, create a strongly radiating, open, and shared hub for international education cooperation, foster a deeply integrated environment for cultural exchange, establish deep cooperative relationships with local Hainan universities, scientific research institutions, and industry enterprises, and attract more high-quality German educational resources and even European education partners to pay attention to and establish a presence in Hainan, striving to build the Hainan Free Trade Port into a base for international education innovation and cooperation. He affirmed that they would, as always, support the healthy, sustainable, and high-quality development of the university in Hainan, aiming to make Hainan Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences a model of sincere cooperation in Sino-German education and a benchmark for the successful operation of internationally high-level applied universities in China.
Prof. Dr. Ingeborg Schramm-Wölk stated that the successful completion ceremony for the permanent campus of Hainan Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences was held, and the speed of the project construction was a pleasant surprise, which would not have been possible without the strong support of Hainan, for which she expressed her thanks to all. She said the university will firmly seize the opportunities presented by the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port, promote the localization of the “work-integrated” talent cultivation model, focusing on teaching, scientific research, and achievement transformation, the university advances the alignment of its disciplinary structure and program offerings with the key industrial development needs of the Hainan Free Trade Port. It continuously broadens collaboration with high-quality enterprises, promotes the deep integration of industry, academia, research, and application, and facilitates the translation of educational outcomes into practice, striving to build a model of sincere Sino-German educational cooperation.
