Recently, China Global Television Network (CGTN), a subsidiary of China Media Group, reported on the successful conclusion of the “2026 Spring School” of BiUH. With the theme “How young Germans experience China from their own perspective,” the coverage followed nearly 90 Chinese and German students, documenting their two-day exploration in Shanghai. The students visited German and Chinese companies, learned about artificial intelligence applications, and experienced autonomous vehicles. A visit to the Shanghai International Circuit was also part of the itinerary. This exchange vividly demonstrated the fruitful results of Sino-German educational cooperation in the Hainan Free Trade Port.

Through this Spring School, the scale, vitality, and pace of development of Chinese cities became more tangible to the German students. A student from HSBI shared in an interview: “There are all kinds of possibilities here. Whether it’s art, business, or culture, every field is very rich and well-developed. You can be exposed to different things, explore the city, and learn about the culture. There are many truly interesting experiences here that are hard to find elsewhere.”

The Spring School was not only an academic practice but also a vivid illustration of the consensus reached by Chinese and German leaders to strengthen bilateral people-to-people exchanges. Through corporate exploration in the “Shanghai stop” and interdisciplinary engineering practice in the “Hainan stop,” students from Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences (HSBI) and Hainan Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences (BiUH) broke down cultural barriers through deep collaboration and enhanced mutual understanding through shared learning.

BiUH will continue to serve as a bridge for Sino-German educational cooperation, using international exchange programs such as the Spring and Summer Schools as platforms to cultivate innovative talents with international perspectives and practical abilities, injecting youthful energy into Sino-German economic and technological collaboration.
